Au...Actually, the words do have different meanings. Austerity is to not spend money unnecessarily, whereas frugality is to make use of what you already have (like washing out the Ziploc and reusing it). Although one could argue that it's the same thing. Austerity is more rich-person, pompous sounding, too.
